A STUDENT’S GUIDE TO HANGING ON TO BAD DAYS!!

Every once in a while we come across such days where we feel completely useless and defeated. Our purpose to achieve something slackens over time. However, that does not mean we simply succumb to our weakness and give up.

Happiness and sadness go hand in hand. We do always wish for happiness when we feel down. We would never have had understood the importance of happiness had we not experienced sorrow.

“Always remember life is an amalgamation of emotions, never GIVE UP”

Student life is not easy at all. It is the most wonderful yet the most difficult time of a person’s life. From meeting up to the expectation of parents to exceed in academics, to facing peer pressure and competition, life gets pretty challenging. It is quite natural to feel bogged down with the pressure of studies and to exceed and prove everyone. In this rat race however, we just lose ourselves. We don’t get time to do what we love to do.

Have we ever asked as to why student life is so important?? Well this is the time when a child gains knowledge, becomes educated and grows up to be a responsible citizen. However, education these days seem like a competition and students mug up to excel in exams rather than gaining knowledge. However studying and mugging up from books is not enough. This way we would just become like robots!! We need to teach love, kindness and compassion which is very important.

Here are some of my personal suggestions to be get through a bad day-

1. DON’T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF

It is okay to not be successful every time. It is completely normal to not get what you want in the first go. Don’t blame yourself for your failure and NEVER COMPARE.
We all are different and have different approaches to a situation. For example- your friend can learn easily by just reading while you have to write your notes to remember. That does not mean you are any less than your friend. :). It’s ok to be different. Take a day off and do your favourite thing.

2. GO SOMEWHERE TO RELAX YOURSELF

Nope I am not talking about any exotic vacation here!! Take a walk alone in a park where you can find little peace and give time to yourself. You might find something interesting 😉

Listen to your favorite music. Music is said to be the medicine which heals the soul. So don’t hesitate to turn up the volume and enjoy your favourite music. :)My personal favourite often includes listening to instrumental music which calms me and relaxes the mind. Below is the link to one of my all time favourite. 🙂

3. READ MOTIVATIONAL WRITINGS

Well everyone does need their daily dose of motivation and when feeling low, motivation seems like an elixir. My favourite reading material is by Daisaku Ikeda. He is a Buddhist philosopher and the leader of Soka Gakkai International. We often forget about our determination when we feel down. Always remember to be positive and be determined to win no matter how many times we are knocked down by the circumstances. 🙂

“The determination to win is the better part of winning.“

4. NEVER GIVE UP

While some days maybe more trying than others, never give up. The day you give up is the day you fail.  Keep a positive outlook in every situation and in the end you will be successful and will be happy. 🙂

Stay happy, be positive and enjoy the present..
